On March 28, 2009, the meeting of the Chair Deans of the Association of Chinese Graduate Schools (ACGS) was held in Xi'an Jiaotong University, with the Executive Vice Deans of Graduate School of Peking University, Graduate School of Nanjing University, Graduate School of Xiamen University, Graduate School of Xi'an Jiaotong University and the head of ACGS Secretariat attending.

The meeting was chaired by Dean Chen Hualing, the rotating chair of the Association of Chinese Graduate Schools(ACGS）this year. The presidents of the meeting focused on the main work of the Joint Committee in 2009, international exchange, commemoration of the 10th anniversary of ACGS, and the construction and long-term development of the Joint Committee itself. The whole meeting had a lively atmosphere, and the participants expressed their views, and finally decided to hold a "Global Graduate Education Summit" in 2009, which will be combined with the ACGS' 2009 Annual Meeting and the celebration of the 10th anniversary of ACGS. (The conference will be held in Xi'an in late October 2009 and will be hosted by Xi'an Jiaotong University).

The meeting also reached consensus on many aspects and formed resolutions. It was decided that the theme of the 2009 ACGS Annual Working Meeting would be "Discussion on Current Hot Issues of Graduate Education"; it was decided to start the reprinting of the picture book "The Joint Conference of Chinese Graduate School Deans 2009"; it was decided to study and complete the first "Annual Report" published in the name of the Joint Conference from this year. It was decided to design and produce gifts for international exchange (with the logo of the Joint Council) and simple brochures for external publicity (for industries and people outside the field of graduate education in China); it was decided to start the research project of "Suggestions for the Guidance of Graduate School Construction" as soon as possible. It was decided to start the research project of "Suggestions for the Guidance of Graduate School Construction" as soon as possible; to continue to complete the work of organizing the essays and compiling the results of "30 Years of Graduate Education in China", and to publish them officially.

The chairmen also gave a lot of good suggestions for the construction and sustainable development of the Joint Committee. It can be said that it was a well-prepared, comprehensive and fruitful meeting.
