From April 15 to 17, 2006, the 2006 meeting of the Association of Chinese Graduate Schools(ACGS）was held in Yangzhou University, Jiangsu Province. The theme of this conference is "Selection and Cultivation of Innovative Talents". Mr. Han Jianhua, inspector of the Department of Student Affairs of the Ministry of Education, and Mr. Wang Lisheng, deputy director of the Center for Development of Degree and Postgraduate Education, attended the conference and made a speech. Yin Xiangwen, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and Guo Rong, President of Yangzhou University, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony respectively. The deans or executive vice deans of 57 graduate schools from all over China attended the conference. The deans or executive vice deans from 56 graduate schools across the country attended the conference.

　　The meeting was conducted in the form of conference reports. The deans or executive vice-presidents of 13 graduate schools, including Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nankai University, Harbin Engineering University, Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology, Chongqing University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Southeast University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Forestry University, Central South University, East China University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University, etc., made presentations on deepening the reform of postgraduate training system and promoting the cultivation of innovative talents, etc. Prof. Chen Haoming, Executive Vice President of Graduate School of Tsinghua University, made a presentation on the pilot work of self-examination of additional first-level discipline doctoral programs. In the closing ceremony, Inspector Han Jianhua also conveyed the spirit of this year's conference on graduate student enrollment. The meeting successfully completed the tasks and reached the expected goal.
