From March 1 to 11, 2009, the Association of Chinese Graduate Schools(ACGS)organized a delegation of deans and vice deans of 19 graduate schools in China, led by Wang Yanglin (Vice Secretary General of the Joint Association of Deans of Graduate Schools, Vice Provost of Peking University and Executive Vice President of Graduate School) and Xiong Caidong (Vice President of University of Electronic Science and Technology and Dean of Graduate School), Yang Desen (Vice President of Harbin Engineering University and Dean of Graduate School) and Nie Hong (Vice President of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Dean of Graduate School), to Taiwan for a period of 11 days. ) and Nie Hong (Vice President and Dean of Graduate School of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics), went to Taiwan for an 11-day exchange visit. They visited six schools, including National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, National Chiao Tung University, National Cheng Kung University, Jinan International University and Sun Yat-sen University, and listened to their briefings and had in-depth exchanges and discussions with relevant personnel. Director General He Zhuo-fei of the Department of Higher Education of the Taiwan Education Administration and Member Liao Wan-ru of the Taiwan Legislative Council also met with the delegation and introduced the development of higher education, policies and regulations, and reform ideas in Taiwan. Through this study visit, we got a more detailed understanding of the current situation of higher education development in Taiwan, especially the status of degree and postgraduate education, which laid a foundation for further exchanges and cooperation in degree and postgraduate education between the two sides of the Strait in the future.
This exchange visit to Taiwan is the first time for the Association of Chinese Graduate Schools(ACGS). The delegation's "Report on the Visit to Taiwan" will be submitted to the national authorities, and at the same time, it will also be exchanged in the plenary session of the Association of Chinese Graduate Schools(ACGS).
