On January 12, 2004, entrusted by the Office of Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the Asecretariat of Association of Chinese Graduate Schools convened the heads of graduate schools of eight universities, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Haihai University, University of Electronic Science and Technology, and East China Normal University, to hold a meeting at the Zhengda International Conference Center of Peking University on the hosting of A coordination meeting was held in the Zhengda International Conference Center of Peking University on the issues related to the hosting of the "2004 National Academic Forum for Doctoral Students".

　　The meeting was chaired by Sun Yegang, Director of the Division of Arts, Science and Medicine of the Academic Degrees Committee Office of the State Council. Firstly, the meeting arranged the representative of Tsinghua University to introduce the preparation and organization of the First National Academic Forum for Doctoral Students, focusing on the achievements, experiences and problems of hosting the forum. Then, the seven schools that hosted the 2004 National Academic Forum for Doctoral Students introduced their respective organizational plans and ideas. The delegates had a lively discussion on the ideas and programs of each school and put forward many constructive opinions. Director Sun Yegang summarized all the opinions and made specific requirements and suggestions to the organizers. Finally, the meeting reached a consensus on the name, organization, time, logo, division of labor and funding of the "2004 National Academic Forum for Doctoral Students".

　　Through this coordination meeting, the organizers unified their understanding, further clarified their responsibilities and tasks, and laid the foundation for the follow-up work of the forum.
