From May 4 to 10, 2009, the Association of Chinese Graduate Schools(ACGS)organized a 7-day exchange trip to Hong Kong under the leadership of Professor Xu Huaimin (Executive Vice President of Graduate School of China University of Petroleum (Beijing)), and returned as scheduled.
The event was attended by the heads of the 36 graduate schools in charge of postgraduate scholarship work in Association of Chinese Graduate Schools(ACGS). Professor Ip Ka On (academician), Dean of the Graduate School of the University of Hong Kong, Professor Pang Ding Quan, Associate Vice President (academic) of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Professor Wong Wing Shing, Dean of the Graduate School of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, gave great support to the delegation's visit, made adequate preparation, and also created a PowerPoint presentation, and introduced to the delegation very seriously the situation of the management system of graduate education and research management system in Hong Kong. At the same time, they also introduced the management of postgraduate education, postgraduate funding and quality assurance system of postgraduate training in their respective universities. All members of the seminar also went to the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Chinese University of Hong Kong for site visits, and had detailed interactive exchanges with the leaders and specific staff in charge of postgraduate education in the three universities, and we were deeply inspired. During the study tour in Hong Kong, the seminar also divided into five groups, respectively, introduced the work of the reform of the training mechanism of their respective schools, how to do a better job in the future to discuss the work in more depth.
We will write a special report to the national education authorities, hold a follow-up seminar to consolidate the results of the visit, and will also make a general exchange to the plenary meeting of the Association of Chinese Graduate Schools(ACGS).
